Gloucester County will host an informational meeting later this month for the public to learn more about data centers and the purpose/intent of establishing a Technology Overlay District (TOD) in the county.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the Glenns campus of Rappahannock Community College.
The county is considering the creation of a TOD in the Glenns area to attract and accommodate data centers, a release stated. These centers have become an important part of the economy at local and state levels. Because of their energy requirements, data centers must be located near high-voltage electrical transmission lines, which are only located in the Glenns area of the county.
