Hurricane Preparedness Expo Aug. 6 at Home Depot

Gloucester County’s Emergency Management Department and partners are gearing up to host a Hurricane Preparedness Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Home Depot, 6921 Walton Lane, Gloucester.

The expo is being held to coincide with Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday, where patrons can purchase hurricane and emergency preparedness items without paying sales tax. The expo will not only provide a wealth of information from the county regarding what one should do to prepare for a storm but will also offer plenty of refreshments and activities for children.

Citizens will have an opportunity to sign up for Bee Alert, Gloucester’s new emergency notification system. Assistance for Spanish-speaking residents will also be available onsite. Visitors to the event will be the LifeEvac helicopter and members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., with various apparatus. Many important resources will be on hand.
