Circuit courts, county offices, DMV customer service centers, and libraries in Gloucester and Mathews will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Gloucester libraries will continue to close early, at 5 p.m., through Dec. 28, while Mathews Memorial Library will close early, at 6 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Gloucester General District Court will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and next Thursday, Dec. 26, while Mathews General District Court will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday only.

The holiday starts for schools in both counties at the end of the school day on Friday, with reopening scheduled for Jan. 6.

All post offices in both counties will be closed on Christmas Day. In addition, the main post offices in Gloucester and Mathews will be open all day on Christmas Eve, but other eight-hour offices in both counties will close at noon. Four-hour offices will observe their usual schedules.
