Hearing Wednesday on regional industrial facility authority

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Wednesday night on whether to take part in the creation of a regional industrial facility authority. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the colonial courthouse and public hearings will start at 6:30.

The authority, if created, would include Gloucester, James City County, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York County to “foster economic growth and development of the County of Gloucester and the region,” according to a public notice. 

The authority would also serve to, “promote the comfort, convenience and welfare of the citizens of the County of Gloucester by developing, owning and operating one or more facilities on a cooperative basis with the other member localities,” according to the notice.
