Harriet Pitcher Smith, age 65, of Gwynn, Va., entered her heavenly home on July 31, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was a member of Mathews Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Parker and Georgie Pitcher, and brother, Gilbert Lee Pitcher, all of Diggs, Va.

She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Smith Sr.; sons, Donald L. Smith Jr. (Cindy), James Todd Smith (Angie), and Jason N. Smith (Kim); four grandchildren, Brandon, Hannah, Parker and Justin Smith, and one sister, Delores P. Sanger.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Mathews Baptist Church, Hudgins, Va., with interment following at Milford Cemetery, Moon, Va. The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. in the church.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va., was in charge of the arrangements.
