Grace Covenant Presbyterian to hold Independence Day Celebration

Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, will hold its sixth Independence Day Celebration at 10 a.m. Wednesday. 

The community celebration will feature patriotic music and group singing, a reading of the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, a piano duet of John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever,” several special choral pieces, and the reading of Paul Harvey’s essay, “Our Lives, Our Fortunes, and Our Sacred Honor.”

Following the indoor portion of the celebration, there will be a reading of the names of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, the ringing of the church bell, and a musket salute to patriots. A lemonade and cookie reception will conclude the celebration in the Grace Covenant Gathering Space. ...
