GMCC celebrates 20 years of serving community

Tropical Storm Michael didn’t stop the Gloucester-Mathews Care Clinic from celebrating 20 years of caring for the community, and honoring its dedicated volunteers.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, the GMCC held its second annual Oktoberfest event at Ware River Yacht Club. Guests feasted on pretzels, brats, schnitzel, frites, kraut and dessert provided by the Prost! Food Truck, and musical entertainment featured the “The Happy Dutchmen.”

The highlight of the event was recognition of eight volunteers who have worked for the past 20 years to advance the clinic’s mission since it was founded in 1998. Honorees included Drs. Peter Zullo, Wayne Reynolds, Robert Davis and Richard Crowder, as well as Peggy Bowditch, Cindy Dorsey, Lou Taylor and Ann Quinn.

Honorees were introduced and presented gifts by Harvey Morgan, who served as Gloucester’s representative to the Virginia House of Delegates from 1980 to 2012 and is also a GMCC volunteer.
