Gloucester to throw a Brew Jam party Saturday

The second annual Brew Jam, a music and beer festival, will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Tabb House, 6596 Main Street, in Gloucester.

Ashley Gilmartin, executive director of the Gloucester Main Street Association, is coordinating the festival, which will be held on the front lawn of the Wells Fargo Financial Advisors office located in the Tabb Building. Last year, about 600 people attended the first festival, she said.

The festival concept is to combine local musical talent with 20 different Virginia microbrews, Gilmartin said. To that end, four local musical groups have been lined up: Eileen Edmonds String Trio, 12-1:30 p.m.; Karl Werne & Friends, 1:45-3:15 p.m.; Sarah Williams, 3:30-5 p.m., and Toby and Larry, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

As for beer, it will include microbrews from St. George, Aleworks, Blue Mountain, Devils Backbone, Port City Brewing, Legend, and Starr Hill.

Besides being a fun day, Gilmartin said the festival will attract more people to Main Street ...
