Gloucester supervisors turn down Ware Neck rezoning

A proposed rezoning in Ware Neck was denied 6-1 by the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors Tuesday night. The rezoning, which would have allowed a retail shop and a residential unit to be constructed on a parcel adjacent to Daffodil Lane, brought a large crowd to the colonial courthouse, with as many voicing support for the project as those opposed.

Most of the people who spoke during the public hearing voiced their admiration for the applicants, Kerry and Tusnee McDaniel, who own Bangkok Noi Thai Cuisine in Gloucester Court House.

However, most of those opposing the project said the parcel along Daffodil Lane was just not the right location for the proposal. Others were concerned with the increase in traffic the project could bring to what many consider an already dangerous intersection at Route 14 and Ware Neck Road.
