Gloucester supervisors to meet Monday, Tuesday

The Gloucester Board of Supervisors will hold a pair of meetings on Monday and Tuesday, with both beginning at 6 p.m. in the colonial courthouse.

On Monday, the board will hear a presentation of the county’s proposed FY2025 budget from County Administrator Carol Steele. Board members will also be asked to make a decision on its advertised tax rates and to set a public hearing on the proposed budget.

On Tuesday night, Chief Information Officer Eric Beach will give an update on the county’s broadband project. Three public hearings will also be held.

The first hearing will be held to consider an ordinance to amend the Gloucester County zoning map to reclassify 0.75 +/- acres owned by William D. Fary Sr. Revocable Living Trust for the purpose of removing all proffered conditions. This property is located in the Ware district along Business Route 17 South (north of the Main Street Landing Development). The applicant has not stated a desired use or development for this property, but seeks to remove all proffers in order to improve the property’s marketability. Director of planning, zoning and environmental Anne Ducey-Ortiz, AICP, CZA, will be present for the hearing.

The second hearing will be to consider an ordinance to change the occurrence of the county’s reassessment from biennially to every three years. This would change the effective date of the next reassessment from Jan. 1, 2025 to Jan. 1, 2026. County assessor Dan Thomas will be present for the hearing.

The third public hearing is being held to consider an ordinance to amend chapter 19, waters, sewers and sewage to add a fee to user accounts and to revise certain fees, rates and charges. Director of public utilities Katey Legg will be present for that meeting.
