Gloucester speaker delivers message of empowerment

Monday afternoon’s King Day service in Gloucester was one of
empowerment, with the guest speaker imploring everyone in attendance to
accept “No More Excuses” on their way to realizing their own dreams.

The First United Baptist Church, White Marsh, hosted the special
service in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The worship service
was led by Kimberly Redmond Cosby, who was introduced by her husband
Shawn Cosby. Cosby led the congregation in the singing of the National
Negro Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” 

The Rev. E. Randolph Graham, church pastor, then introduced the guest
speaker of the service. The Rev. Dr. John Boyd, the pastor of Trinity
Baptist Church in King William, was a last-minute fill for the service,
but that did not keep him from delivering a powerful message to the
congregation.

Boyd’s message was called “No More Excuses.” He preached on the
favorite scripture, John 3:16. He discussed how God sent His Son to
