Gloucester rings in season with parade, open house

Gloucester County got into the spirit of the season over the weekend, with the Gloucester Citizen’s and Holiday Parade on Saturday, a Main Street Open House with an appearance by Santa Claus on Sunday, culminating in the lighting of the Christmas tree in the court circle.

"This year’s parade entries were wonderful. You could tell that a lot of thought and preparation went into the floats," said Denise Carter, supervisor of Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

"We were amazed at the participation, each group was large," she added, speaking about the parade that lasted over an hour. "Mother Nature was kind, the day was beautiful so everyone wanted to be outdoors. There was great holiday spirit during the line-up, everyone was excited and enthusiastic."
