Gloucester commemorates Crime Victims’ Rights Week

The Gloucester Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and its Victim/Witness Assistance Program are joining the Office of Victims of Crimes in commemorating National Crime Victims’ Rights Week April 7-13. This year’s theme for the week is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the Future.”

“It is important for victims of crime to know there are agencies throughout Gloucester that are ready to assist them that did not exist 30 years ago,” said Gloucester Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly Smith.

“While prosecutors are fighting for justice in the courtroom, our advocates are trained to provide support to victims through various means aimed toward recovery.”

Gloucester’s Victim/Witness Assistance Program works directly with victims of crime to provide information on their rights through the criminal justice process and assist in creating a plan for their safety. Advocates on staff can assist with referrals to outside agencies ...
