Gloucester board to hold 2019 organizational meeting

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hold its 2019 organizational meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in the colonial courthouse. During the board’s first meeting of the year, a new chair and vice chair will be elected.

Also, the board will adopt its 2019 Rules of Procedure, Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics. As part of this, there has been repeated discussion about changing the start of the board’s meetings to a later time. This past year, the board has started its meetings at 6 p.m. However, some members have expressed concern that it is difficult for them to arrive in time for the start of the meeting because of their jobs on the Peninsula.

Also during Wednesday night’s meeting, the board will discuss and approve its board, committee and commission assignments, which include board of supervisor representatives on the Gloucester Planning Commission, Board of Social Services, Library Board of Trustees and other regional boards.
