Gloucester board approves ‘Under the Stars’ permit

The Gloucester Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning request from Under the Stars Lavender Farm rezoning, a conditional use permit for an event venue at the same location and the In-Part Parcel Amendment following a joint public hearing with the Gloucester Planning Commission last Thursday night. The meeting was held electronically.

Applicants Billy and Caren McDonald requested that Under the Stars Lavender Farm be rezoned from SC-1, Suburban Countryside, to RC-1, Rural Countryside in order to “permit the continuance of the existing, nonconforming agricultural uses on the property and allow related agritourism by right,” according to staff documents.

The 127.51-acre property is located along Dutton and Harcum roads. The property is surrounded by wooded and residential land, the Dutton Road and Harcum Road intersection and Harper’s Creek.
