Gideon Mooring Jr., 49, of Newport News, former Gloucester High School head basketball coach, died on July 12, 2022.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Carter Mooring, and three daughters, Alexis, Ajah and Aliyah.

Funeral services for Coach Mooring will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown. Viewing will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 22 at Carter Funeral Home, 251 Richneck Road, Newport News, and at the church on Saturday one hour before the service.
