Gibbs to serve as parade grand marshal

Nelda Gibbs of Moon, is honored to be grand marshal of Saturday’s Mathews County Christmas Parade, but she’s not sure why she was chosen.

 

“I just hope everybody thinks I’m worthy of it,” she said.

 

Ann Miller, co-chair of the parade committee, along with Jo Ann Mulvany and Brenda Baker, thinks Gibbs is plenty worthy. Miller said she and the other committee members had known right away that they wanted to honor Gibbs this year.

 

“She does more in the county than just about anybody I know,” said Miller. “She’s out there doing things like a phantom and doesn’t take any credit for it. She’s amazing.”
