GHS golfers hold 74-stroke lead among Peninsula schools

Gloucester High School golfers have built a 74-stroke lead over their nearest competitors from Warwick after just two matches. The Dukes lead the 10-team Peninsula field with 646 strokes, followed by Warwick with 720.

After the season-opening round at Kiln Creek was cancelled, Gloucester got off to a good start at Williamsburg National last Thursday. The Dukes turned in a team score of 329, followed by Warwick with 378, Menchville with 407 and Bethel with 434.

Gloucester’s Cameron Baker was the medalist for the match with a score of 79. Trent Green and Hunter Martin each turned in scores of 82 for the Dukes and Nathan Gross was fourth for the team with an 86. Also competing for GHS were Davey Grimm and Grady Baker, each with scores of 94.

On Tuesday, Gloucester raised its lead over Warwick with a 317 at Kiskiack, while the Raiders shot a 342. Martin led the team and was medalist for the outing with a 72. Gross and C. Baker each shot an 81 and Green contributed an 83. Also comp...
