Members of American Legion Post 83, Mathews, properly dispose of faded and torn U.S. and other flags during a Flag Day ceremony on Friday at the post headquarters on Hookemfair Road in Hudgins. Sergeant-at-Arms Al Smith presented Post 83 Commander Tim Roscher with a representative sample of the worn flags before they were placed in the fire. The post, with the assistance of members of the community, disposed of more than 430 used flags and banners at the ceremony. Refreshments followed the service. ...
