Fireworks, reenactment, musical all a part of Revolutionary Week

Revolutionary Week in Mathews, which kicks off on Saturday, promises excitement and entertainment for the whole family, from a musical about the Battle of Cricket Hill to the annual July 4 fireworks show to an encampment and reenactment of one of the defining battles of the Revolutionary War.

The musical

“Crickets on a Hill,” a musical by Judy Ward, arranged and orchestrated by David Shuber, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mathews High School. It tells the story of a young man who is torn between sailing to England to pursue his education or remaining in America to fight for freedom and start a life with the girl he loves.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and are available for purchase at various outlets and at the door. For more information, call director Anita Minuth at 804-725-7947.
