Fair Association dissolves; Ark Park given to county

After hosting years of community summer traditions, the Gloucester Fair Association, which organized the county’s fair for over 40 years, has officially decided to dissolve. 

As a parting gift, the Association wished to donate three parcels of its property, known as Ark Park, to Gloucester County, as well as remaining cash assets of $58,000, to Park Partners, Inc., to benefit the park.

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted 7-0 Tuesday night during its meeting in the colonial courthouse to authorize the acceptance of the parcels of land.

According to Rachael Burnette, president of the Fair Association, it purchased the land in Ark in 1975 to host the County Fair.
