SUPERVISORS: The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will have a special called meeting at 6 o’clock today, Thursday, Feb. 10, in the historic courthouse to receive comments from departments and outside agencies on their budget requests and to adopt a budget schedule.

MASTER GARDENERS: Gloucester Master Gardeners will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Ware Neck. A session on “Cannabis: Its History, Uses and Decoding the New Laws in Virginia” is planned. No charge or registration is required.
CHILI COOK-OFF: The seventh annual Chili Cook-off, sponsored by the Mathews Rotary Club, will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. Saturday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins. Tickets at $15 each are available from club members or can be purchased at mathewsrotaryclub.org.

JOINT HEARING: The Mathews County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will hold a joint public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

SOCIAL SERVICES: The Mathews Social Services Board will meet at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Social Services office lobby.
