Environmental Leadership Award

Dr. Carl Hershner, director of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s Center for Coastal Resources Management, Gloucester Point, was presented the 2018 Captain Ron Erchul Environmental Leadership Award by the Virginia Military Institute’s Center for Leadership and Ethics during its annual Environment Virginia Symposium in Lexington on April 5. The award recognizes a Virginian who has made significant individual efforts to improve the environment, a release stated. The award is named for the late VMI professor Ronald A. Erchul, Ph.D., the symposium’s founder.
