Entries sought for Mathews Christmas Parade

Entries are being sought for the annual Mathews Christmas Parade, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, in Mathews Court House.

Prizes will be awarded for the best entry in each of the following categories: Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle.

The “Tales of Christmas” parade will start at Thomas Hunter Middle School and end at the Bank of America parking lot. Due to the large number of entries and for the safety of all, Sheriff Mark Barrick has requested that all units go to the rear of the bank parking lot to ensure space for all units to enter and that you remain in the Bank of America parking lot until the parade has ended.

The Thomas Hunter parking lot will be available beginning at 11 a.m. for last-minute touch ups to entries. Upon arrival, be sure to come to the check-in table for your assigned lineup position. Lineup will start at noon. Judging will take place during the parade in front ...
