Dykeman receives VHCF Unsung Hero Award

The Virginia Health Care Foundation honored Nancy H. Dykeman of Gloucester with its Unsung Hero Award for her service to the Gloucester-Mathews Care Clinic.

The award, along with a $2,000 contribution to GMCC from the Virginia Association of Health Plans, was presented at VHCF’s Heroes in Health Care celebration, which was held last month in Richmond. This annual event recognizes outstanding efforts by volunteers and employees of Health Safety Net organizations, from all areas of the state.

The VHCF presented a total of five 2019 Unsung Hero Awards in the areas of Physician, Volunteer, Teamwork, Employee, and Donor; Dykeman received her award in the last category.

Dykeman’s generosity, and vision as a donor and volunteer of the GMCC, “stems from a passionate belief in the clinic’s mission to provide community-based health care to uninsured residents of Gloucester and Mathews counties,” according to a release from the foundation.
