Dukes post third straight gridiron victory in shutout

The Gloucester High School varsity football team notched its third consecutive win and second consecutive shutout with a 20-0 victory over Bethel High School last Thursday in Darling Stadium. 

Gloucester quarterback Isaiah Spencer rushed for 160 yards and both touchdowns while kicker Andrew Coxe added two field goals. Lamar Bady also contributed 14 tackles in the victory to help make up for the absence of defensive standout Cameron Walker. 

Walker had to sit out after he was called for a flagrant foul in the win over Denbigh the previous week. Gloucester coach John Scalf was unsuccessful in his appeal of the suspension. 

In support of Walker, the Dukes wore his number, 17, on their helmets in the win over Bethel. Scalf said both Peyton Carneal and Joe Conroy also helped to make up for the loss of Walker, while freshman Thomas Conroy took Walker’s place on the defensive line.
