Dukes fall to Crabbers, 49-0, in GHS homecoming game

Gloucester High School seniors took first place in the homecoming parade float competition with their “Hammer Hampton” themed entry, but it was Gloucester that got hammered, 49-0, in the homecoming football game Friday night.

Hampton put 28 points on the board in the first quarter alone and added seven more in each of the remaining three periods. The Crabber defense also held Gloucester’s Devon Pullen, who is ranked in the top 10 of Peninsula District rushers, to less than 70 yards on the ground.

As part of the homecoming activities, seniors Jared Belvin and Kaitlyn Carr were named the homecoming king and queen during halftime. It was also announced that the sophomore class won the spirit week homecoming activities overall.

Still looking for a win this season, the Dukes only have two opportunities remaining. In the final home contest of the year, Gloucester will host Kecoughtan at 7 p.m. Friday where senior GHS team members will be recognized. ...
