Democrats hold caucus Saturday in Gloucester

The Gloucester County Democratic Committee will hold an unassembled caucus from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Eggheads Diner on George Washington Memorial Highway in Gloucester Point. 

The purpose will be to nominate a candidate for the 98th District of the Virginia House of Delegates. All Democrats in the 98th District are encouraged to attend, said Democratic Committee Chair Dianne Carter de Mayo.

“We’re trying to make it as available to as many people as possible,” she said.

The call to order will be at 9:30 a.m., said de Mayo, followed by a chance for each candidate to speak. Ballots will then be passed out, with balloting open until 11 a.m.

Two candidates have declared their intention to run for the nomination: Ella Belt Webster of Gloucester and Christopher “Chris” Corp of Hayes.
