Democratic Primary Tuesday; Gloucester GOP votes Monday

Local registrars are gearing up for next week’s Democratic Party primary election, to be held between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In other election news, the Gloucester County Republican Committee will hold its party canvass from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on Main Street, where GOP members will be asked to choose from two candidates for Clerk of Circuit Court.

Democratic primary

There are no local Democratic candidates on the primary ballot in either Gloucester or Mathews, but multiple candidates have filed for each of the three statewide offices that are open.

On the ballot for the office of governor are former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, 9th District Senator Jennifer McClellan, former 2nd District Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy, 50th District Delegate Lee J. Carter, and current Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax.
