Del. Morgan delivers his final legislative preview

With less than a month left in office, retiring Del. Harvey Morgan (R-Middlesex) gave his final legislative preview during a Middle Peninsula League of Voters (MidPenVOTE) forum Nov. 30 at Gloucester’s main library. He was joined by his soon-to-be successor, Keith Hodges, who will begin serving the 98th district in the Virginia House of Delegates on Jan. 1.

Morgan took the time to address some issues ranging from the budget to uranium mining in Virginia to Agenda 21.

Morgan said he has written a letter to all board of supervisor members in his district discussing the Agenda 21 movement. "A lot of people are going to Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission meetings and board of supervisors’ meetings complaining about Agenda 21," he said.

He said he is not certain what Agenda 21 is other than it is connected with the United Nations. However, he said people are accusing local governing boards of "insidious acts" taking away their private right...
