The 15th annual Dale Garrett Memorial Golf Benefit will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Golden Eagle Golf Course, Irvington, beginning at 11 a.m.
In his memory, the family of Dale Garrett of Mathews hosts this annual golf benefit to support someone who is battling cancer. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to Declan Carberry of Williamsburg.
In February, 3-year-old Declan was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma. “The days since then have been filled with chemotherapy and MRIs, but haven’t taken away Declan’s spirit and enthusiasm,” a release stated.
“The cancer is aggressive, but recent tests have shown that the tumors have shrunk or are not detectable at all,” the release added. “Help us support Declan and his parents as they navigate through this chapter and support their little fighter.”
The cost to participate is $400 per team; $100 for a single player. There will be raffle and team prizes, as well as prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
