Daffodil Festival opens Saturday

This weekend, thousands of residents and visitors are expected to flock to Gloucester’s Main Street to attend the 33rd annual Gloucester Daffodil Festival.

To complement the festival are a number of other annual events, such as the Gloucester Daffodil Show, tours of Brent and Becky’s gardens, the 5K and Fun Run, and more.

The festival, with a theme of “Along the Water’s Edge,” will kick off Saturday morning with the annual parade at 10 a.m. After the parade, which will step off from Main Street Center, visitors are encouraged to head to the Main Stage for the Opening Ceremony, which will include the crowning of the 2019 Daffodil Festival Queen and Little Miss, as well as the announcement of this year’s scholarship winners.

Festival coordinator Debbie Wesolowski said more than 150 vendors are expected to take part in this weekend’s festival. The food court will serve items ranging from hot dogs to soft-serve ice cream; from BBQ to funnel cake...
