Crime Victim Awareness Fair to be held May 19

The Gloucester County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office and the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office will host a Crime Victim Awareness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Gloucester Walmart parking lot. The event is being held on the final day of National Police Week.

The sheriff’s office will offer Ident-A-Kid cards and demonstrate R.A.D. (Rape and Aggression Defense) techniques. Representatives of Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Virginia Marine Resource Police, Gloucester Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. and K-9 teams will be in attendance.

Local resource agencies will have information booths, including The Avalon Center (Gloucester’s new advocacy center for battered women and children), Gloucester’s Victim Witness Assistance Program and the Gloucester Department of Social Services.
