Gloucester County Administrator Brent Fedors addressed the March 11 meeting of the Abingdon Ruritan Club. Topics included the county’s budget, the benefits of having volunteer fire departments and shopping locally within the county. Benefits of shopping locally include a tax rate is lower than surrounding localities. In addition, he said, 2.3 percent of sales tax goes directly to Gloucester’s schools, which in turn, keeps real estate taxes low.
