Cooling stations available in Gloucester, Mathews

As the U.S. battles extreme heat, cooling stations have been set up in Gloucester and Mathews counties.
In Gloucester
Those needing a break from the heat in Gloucester can visit the Main Street Center or Point branches of Gloucester Public Library, which have been designated as cooling centers. The main branch is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, with the Point branch open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Additionally, the GUEST Day Shelter will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The day shelter can offer services to anyone homeless, living in their car or even housed in a place without utilities. While there, you can take a shower, do laundry and grab a meal while you are getting out of the heat of the day for a while. For more information, call 804-792-5046.
