Comments being sought on local workforce plan

The Bay Consortium Workforce Development Board, which serves 16 jurisdictions, including Mathews and Middlesex counties, is accepting public comment on its four-year local plan. The plan is required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014.

WIOA is designed to help youth, job seekers and businesses, said a press release. The comprehensive plan, in partnership with chief elected officials, serves as a plan to develop, align, and integrate local area service delivery strategies with those that support Virginia’s strategic and operational goals, said the release.

The 148-page local plan states that the goals of the board include providing workforce development activities to address education and skill needs of the workforce, including for people with barriers to employment.
