Clean Gloucester Day

Deb Kerns-Anderson, left, and Leslie Bowie map out which groups will be cleaning certain locations during Saturday’s Clean Gloucester Day. The Clean Community Office will lead the event from 8 a.m. to noon, providing safety vests, litter grabbers, and trash bags from their staging areas. Kerns-Anderson is an organizer for the Ware Neck portion of the cleanup and has been doing so since the 1970s. Bowie is the county’s Clean Community Coordinator. In last spring’s cleanup 273 people collected 293 bags of debris from county roadways. This fall’s cleanup, the larger of the two annual Clean Gloucester Days, will include more than 480 volunteers.
