Chambers arrested in connection with infant’s death

A Gloucester man sought by the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office for questioning in connection with the suspicious death of his infant daughter and critical injuries to his wife has been taken into custody.

Dennis Dwayne Chambers, 60, of Aberdeen Creek Road in Gloucester was taken into custody on Wednesday, July 8, and charged the following day with killing and murdering an infant female in the second degree and maliciously causing bodily injury to his wife with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable of kill. He is being held at the Gloucester Jail without bond.

At about 4 p.m. on July 8, the GSO was notified by the New Kent Sheriff’s Office that a citizen saw the 2010 Volkswagen Beetle owned by Chambers at the Wahrani Nature Trail on Eltham Road in New Kent County, according to GSO Chief Deputy Ryan Cookson.

Cookson said upon extensive search of the area by GSO and New Kent Sheriff’s Office personnel, Chambers was taken into custody on a warrant for malicious wounding of his wife....
