CECELIA OWENS ETHERIDGE CARTWRIGHT

Cecelia Owens Etheridge Cartwright, age 97, peacefully passed away on Aug. 10, 2022 in Bennington, Vermont. She was born in 1925 in Mathews County, Virginia, to Lena Virginia Owens and Hugh Pritchard Etheridge.

She was married to William Jarvis Cartwright Jr. (deceased Lt. Col., USAF) for 53 years, traveling extensively with him in the states and abroad. She is survived by her son, William J. Cartwright III (Nancy) of Mathews; daughter, Sue Mattison (Larry) of Shaftsbury, Vermont; granddaughter, Elisabeth McLean, and great-granddaughter, Carleigh McLean of Bennington, and grandson, William Scott Cartwright of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Cecelia will be remembered for enjoying, buying and selling antiques, and her love of quilting and cooking. She had a wonderfully elegant Tidewater accent. Throughout her travels, she always returned with her family to her home on the North River of the Mobjack Bay. She will be buried next to her husband in Arlington National Cemetery once final arrangements have been completed.
