Calvin Dean Haywood, 84, of Cobbs Creek, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester, Virginia.

He was a member of the former Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gloucester. He was a lifetime commercial waterman and a proud captain of the “Chris Cal.”

He was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannie Dunston, and a great-grandson, Caleb.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Haywood; daughters, Kathy Hudgins (Waverly), Patsy Brooks (Dickie), and Glenda Owens (Stanford); a son, Nelson Morris (Pam); a son-in-law, Al Dunston; a brother, Charles Ben Haywood; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Monday, June 13, 2016, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Virginia. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, burial followed in St. Paul Annex, Susan, Virginia.
