Bunches of Blooms transitions to summer season

Bunches of Blooms Flower Farm is gearing up for the summer season. Owner Dianne Stringer sells a variety of flowers that she grows for the spring and summer seasons at the property on Back Creek Road in Gloucester.

Stringer sells her arranged bouquets at Nuttall’s Store and at the Yorktown Farmers’ Market.

Everything from sweet peas to sunflowers can be found in Stringer’s two gardens. Her spring garden is the smaller of the two and is located right in front of her home. She said that every inch where she could plant a seed she has.

The garden is currently home to snapdragons, strawflowers, lilies and African marigolds. With this cool spring, some of her spring garden is still blooming.

Her summer garden is highlighted by prominent celosias and sunflowers which take up a decent amount of territory in the garden. Zinnias, chrysanthemums and gladioli are also found in her larger garden.

Stringer said no pesticides are used and that her flowers are always sold freshly cut. She said a benefit buying from local farms is that all of the product is “grown not flown.” She said customers often tell her that her bouquets outlive bouquets bought at larger stores.

Bunches of Blooms sells bouquets for any occasion, said Stringer. She also sells flowers in unarranged bunches for customers organizing larger events. The unarranged bunches allow the customer to arrange the flowers themselves. She said she also does customer orders on a case-by-case basis, including small batch bouquet orders.
