Boat ramp closing

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is closing its Deep Point Public Boat Landing at the end of Route 606 on the Piankatank River near Harcum beginning next Friday, Sept. 5, for approximately 60 days. The September date was chosen for its favorable construction weather and because it comes after the last holiday weekend of the summer, according to DGIF spokesperson Larry Hart. The concrete boat ramp and courtesy piers will be replaced and the parking area will be refurbished during the time the ramp is closed. Alternate landings for boaters to use during the closure include Ware House Landing on the Ware River, Tanyard Landing on the Poropotank River and Gloucester Point Landing on the York River.
