Board considers extending tax deadline

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to consider adoption of a resolution extending the tax deadline for the first half of 2013.

Supervisors’ chair Edwina Casey said that, if approved, the deadline would be "10 days later than June 5." She said the reason for the proposed resolution was that the tax bills weren’t yet ready. The special meeting was announced on Friday.

Neither Commissioner of the Revenue Les Hall nor Treasurer Wendy Stewart could be reached for comment.
