Ballot drop box

Early voting began Friday in Virginia, both in person at the registrar’s offices and with the mailing of absentee ballots to voters who request them. For those in Gloucester who receive their absentee ballots, a new vote-by-mail ballot drop box in the registrar’s office parking lot allows voters to drop off their completed ballot and drive through. The box is under 24-hour video surveillance. Voters who receive absentee ballots can also place them in the mail. And, of course, polling places will be open as usual across the state on Election Day, Nov. 3, for in-person voting.
