The Inn at Warner Hall in Gloucester is commemorating its 25th anniversary as an inn with the opening of Austin’s, a new on-site dining destination, during the weekend of Oct. 10-11.
Two days of celebratory activities will also be held at the inn, which is located on the ca. 1642 estate of George Washington’s great-great grandfather, Augustine Warner I.
“We’re honored to write the next chapter in Warner Hall’s remarkable story,” said Bryan Guillot, CEO of Thomas Lee Group, which managers the property for the owner, BluWater Group, a Florida-based private equity concern. “This beloved estate has always been a special place where history is alive. We look forward to honoring its legacy, and christening its future, during our inaugural weekend celebration.”
Founded by former owner/managers Troy and Theresa Stavens, the inn is now a luxury retreat and dining destination, said a press release. On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11, guests will explore Warner Hall’s history “through the glass,” with whiskey expert Noah Rothbaum, author of “The Whiskey Bible,” headlining the events.
“It’s exciting to be involved in a project that’s directly related to George Washington, who was not only our first president, but also our first celebrity distiller, and the most prolific whiskey producer of the late 18th century,” said Rothbaum.
The restaurant will feature a four-course dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, followed on Saturday by Rothbaum’s American history and whiskey-tasting class at 3 p.m. and an oyster roast on the Bluestone Terrace overlooking the Severn River at 5 p.m.
The cost for the three events is $800 per couple, not including accommodations and transportation, said the press release. In addition to the events, guests will receive a signed copy of “The Whiskey Bible” and specialty gear from Filson, an American outfitter. The gear will consist of two low-profile caps, an all-weather tote bag, a candle, and a wool blanket.
Reservations may be made by calling 800-331-2720.
