Arthur Herbert Swenson, born August 15, 1934, to Emma and Arthur Swenson of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on Nov. 2, 2017 after a long and courageous battle.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Diana, and numerous cousins in New Jersey. He was predeceased by his brother, Barry Swenson of Florida.

Arthur served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and graduated from Columbia University with an Electrical Engineering degree and Bernard Baruch College with an MBA. He was employed by Con Edison for five years, leaving to become a Professor of Mathematics at Orange County Community College in Middleton, New York, for 16 years. He retired in 1981 to Ormond Beach, Florida; after another 16 years, moved permanently to Mathews. 

Art enjoyed many years of international travel and was an avid basketball and tennis player. He also loved skiing, sailing and dancing.

Memorial services will be held at various venues. Burial to be in the family plot at Mathews Baptist Church.
