Armed robbery takes place at Point convenience store

The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday evening at the Stop & Go convenience store at 1505 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester Point.

GSO Capt. John Schick Jr. said the robbery happened around 5:45 p.m. when a light complexioned African American or Hispanic male entered the store, brandished a small frame firearm and demanded money from the store owner.

Schick said the robber was reported to be between 5’9” and 6’ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and had a red covering over his face.

The store owner complied with the robber’s demands, Schick said, and the suspect put an undisclosed amount of money into a bag he brought with him and fled the store on foot.

Schick said anyone who can assist law enforcement in identifying the suspect in the robbery is asked to call the GSO at 804-693-3890 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
