A special day of fishing

Joyce Webb of Gloucester organized a day of fishing for paralyzed veterans at the Gloucester Point Fishing Pier on Tuesday. Hospitalized and paralyzed veterans were transported from the VA Hunter Holmes Medical Center in Richmond and the VA in Hampton to enjoy a day of fishing and good food. Webb, who is retired from working at the VA, said the veterans hold a very special place in her heart and she wants to give them something in return for their service to the country. A number of local businesses and individual donors helped make the event possible including Dr. Lombard’s dental office, Chick-fil-A, Ken Houtz Chevrolet-Buick and Damon & Company restaurant.
