Diane Atherton Sadler, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, surrounded by her family. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she has gone to meet her heavenly Father.
Diane was a lifelong member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church. She graduated from Mathews High School and Pan American Business College, and went on to retire from the York County School System after 29 years of dedicated service. She was also a Past Matron of the Eastern Star, Oriental Chapter #30, OES.
Creative and generous, Diane loved arts and crafts and took special joy in making personalized cards for the people she loved. She was also a wonderful cook, and her kitchen was a place where family and friends were always welcome. Her thoughtfulness, her handmade touches, and her warm spirit will be remembered and treasured by all who knew her.
Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Philip V. Sadler; her son, Mark Sadler; her parents, Elwood and Kathleen Atherton, and her grandparents, Romie and Iola Hudgins and Joseph and Ida Atherton.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Sadler and his wife Sirlei of Orlando, Fla., and her daughter-in-law, Valerie Sadler of Tampa, Fla. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Wesley, Matthew (Shyan), Micayla, and Julie Sadler; a great-grandson, Marcus, and many cousins and close friends who loved her dearly.
