NOREEN MARIE WOOD

Noreen Marie Wood (Corrigan), 83, passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Midland, Maryland, Noreen spent much of her life in LaVale, Maryland, before retiring to Gloucester, Virginia, with her devoted husband, Charles Wood.

Noreen lived a life marked by service, kindness, and dedication to her community. She worked for many years as a real estate agent and later as a tour guide in Western Maryland, roles through which she met countless people and shared her love for the region. She was also a proud member of the LaVale Rescue Squad, giving her time and energy to support others in moments of need. After relocating to Gloucester, Noreen became a member of Petsworth Baptist Church, where she continued building friendships and nurturing her faith.

Beyond her community service, Noreen was an avid painter, crafter, and reader. She had a deep affection for animals—especially chickens, dogs, cats, and horses—and she held a lifelong love for Colonial Williamsburg. Her creativity, curiosity, and gentle way with animals were cherished parts of who she was.

Noreen is survived by her husband, Charles Wood; her daughter, Susan Wellborn, husband James Wellborn, and granddaughters, Jordan Wellborn and Madison Wellborn; her son, Brian Fishel and wife Angie Fishel, and granddaughters, Nikole Fishel, Stephanie Day, Morgan Clarke, and Maddison Koch; her daughter, Judith Fishel, and grandchildren, Jessica Fletcher, Christopher Simmons, and Brian Simmons Jr.; and her step-daughter, Cassandra Inskeep, husband Jack Inskeep, and grandchildren, Logan Inskeep and Elizabeth Inskeep; along with numerous great-grandchildren.
